it needs a redesign to stay competitive. It needs more of what families want these days *cough*LED drls*cough*. The pilots interior wasn't too bad, but Hondas navigation system is quite lacking.

Be mad, bro.
The previous generation Pilot was a great looking, really nice vehicle. Sort of like Honda's take on a non-offroading 4runner, before the 4runner got ugly too.
They have continued this awful sorry excuse for a soccer mom mobile for far too long. It's about time Honda brings back a handsome vehicle to replace this garbage.

My uncle used to havea 2010; I've driven it a couple times. It's comfortable and has adequate power, roomy interior, but the ergonomics are lulzy and TERRIBLE blindspots.

The current model's exterior is truly one of the most anonymous designs on the road, which may help it age better, but that interior makes me want to pour bleach in my eyes, and will have most people asking "WTF?" years from now, if they aren't already.

That interior may LOOK inviting (to some) but I have a late model one on the lot right now and just about everything is cheap, hard plastic. By that I mean it's almost to the point of flimsy. My Cruze has nicer plastics (even in the cheapout areas) than that thing.

This exactly.
My mom bought a new 2010 Pilot back in '09, and now with only ~40K miles on the odometer, the cheap, flimsy, plasticky interior is falling apart.
The arm rest vinyl on both the door and the center console has ripped and looks like crap, the seats, no longer covered with the velour-type fabric Honda used in the 80's & 90's, are made of cheap fabric that stains easily and is starting to rip.
My 2007 Silverado with 75K miles has a much nicer interior that has held up a lot better than my mom's Pilot's interior.

It's rather disconcerting when everyone is like "HONDA! QUALITY! YAY!" And I'm over here like "yeah, drive a Pilot lately? I was genuinely looking forward to getting some seat time in it because of how much the previous owner raved (only owned it two years. only had 31,000 miles on it). I was so disappointed.
